Jewellery business - not just about money

Article by Siim Einfeldt

The price of the most expensive jewellery items is equal to the price of a pretty nice private jet. You could just think of a $7.98 million Blue Diamond. So as they say, beauty can be rather costly. Of course, it doesn't always have to be that expensive, but one way or another, with the nice price tag also come the responsibility to the companies related to jewellery.

To honour the best of the best in the industry, Jewellery News Asia (JNA) has announced JNA Awards. JNA Awards is taking place during the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, on Thursday, 20 September 2012, at The Ritz-Carlton. In collaboration with UBM Awards the event is set to honour excellence and achievements in the industry, mainly in Asia, and it is focusing in areas such as corporate social responsibility, quality, outstanding contribution, leadership, manufacturing, retailing, innovation, branding. The shortlisted honourees were announced in June and you can see the full list at www.jnaawards.com

The recipients of the awards will be named during the ceremony. Also during the JNA Awards, South African businessman Nicky Oppenheimer, chairman of De Beers Group, will be presented with Lifetime Achievement Award.

When it comes to jewellery business, it's not just about money. It's about the beauty. It's about the quality. It's about the social responsibility.
